This newly revived masterpiece of "King Arthur" from that era is now available in limited edition on 180g analog LP John Elliott Gardiner replaced the Monteverdi Orchestra with earlier instruments in the mid-1970s and renamed it the English Baroque Soloists. orchestra, choir, and first-rate soloists, the Elate label proposed and the company agreed to record the most iconic works of "Henry Purcell in the greatest genius we (England) ever had." Diapason Magazine wrote, "Dramatic, sophisticated, sometimes hot, sometimes overwhelming, sometimes mesmerizing, Gardiner's Purcell reading will not escape the discography of the wise music lover. Purcell himself is there!" and gave it the greatest acclaim. First performed at London's Dorset Garden Theatre in mid-1691, "King Arthur" is the most popular of Purcell's stage productions and has been revived continuously since the 18th century.However, although it is a "opera," it is neither an opera nor a play, and "King Arthur" is truly a semi-opera that shines brilliantly in history. Today, only the score exists, and the script of the play has not survived, making it impossible to perform the entire play in its original form. The story also consists of 10 episodes that are not actually connected, but the music is a beautiful masterpiece. Gardiner's conducting is superb, with a superb original instrumental ensemble that sings with a high level of dignity and a dramatic charm appropriate to the music of the play. This masterpiece is being produced in a limited 180g analog LP edition. No lyrics or bilingual translation is included.
