Two generations of father and son pursue folkloric art His father, Joaquín Turina y Areal [1847-1903], was a painter who painted Sevillian folk customs very beautifully in a realistic manner, and his influence on Turina's musical works is significant. Turina was also interested in photography as well as painting, and his estate included works by the Sevillian photographer Emilio Beauch Cano [1847-1928] (who also made photographic reproductions of his father's paintings). Influence of realistic art and photography of folk customs Initially inspired by the impressionistic approach of his studies in Paris, Turina eventually switched from a French orientation to a Spanish one as he interacted with Albéniz [1860-1909] and Falla [1876-1946], studied Andalusian folk music, and began to work on music inspired by folkloric material. He also studied Andalusian folk music and began to work on music inspired by folkloric material. (Nihon Shuppan Boeki)
