Born in Granada, Antonio Ruiz-Pipo began learning guitar as a boy, but also practiced as a pianist; in 1948, he entered the Frank Marshall Academy. This is a venerable place named for Frank Marshall, a student of Granados who trained Alicia de la Rocha and other Spanish pianists. She studied composition under de Larrocha and with José Cercos. He then went to Paris, where he studied with Alfred Cortot, Blanche Basquelet de Gherardi, and Yves Nat. She integrates elements of Spanish folk music with Luis-Pipo's own unique musical language and Spanish culture, using tonal music, modes, and a free atonal chromatic scale, which she successfully combines to create music. Michele Di Filippo is a young guitarist born in 1994. He has studied under such renowned guitarists as David Russell, Adriano Del Salle, Stefano Palamidesi, Arturo Tarlini, Andrea Pace, and Cristiano Pauli Capelli.He is also known as a composer, mostly composing music for guitar.
