Beecham's monaural recordings have been carefully digitized and restored to the present day, not only for the first time on CD, but also newly HD remastered for two-thirds of the tracks. In addition, the source material based on previous remasters has also been mastered with careful attention to sound quality, pitch, noise, and inter-song processing. Sir Thomas Beecham, along with Leopold Stokowski, is one of the most influential pioneers in the history of early orchestral recording. Beecham's formation of the elite London Philharmonic Orchestra in 1932 ushered in a new era of the highest standards of artistry and technical excellence. It marked the beginning of a new era of the highest standards of artistry and technical excellence. He knew early on how to skillfully capture the London Philharmonic's kaleidoscopic timbres, incisive rhythms, and dense ensemble on recording. He applied this same skill when he founded the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in 1946, and his numerous recordings with both orchestras have established legendary standards of artistry, craftsmanship, and sonic beauty in the history of recording.This box set contains all of his monaural recordings for Columbia Graphophone and HMV (His Master's Voice) labels. This is a sister volume to his old EMI stereo recordings released on Warner Classics, and it conveys his brilliant, engaging, and exuberant playing more vividly than ever.
