DUETS SPECIAL" is a duet album with 13 amazing guests.Among those invited to join the group are artists ranging from k.d. Lang to the late Mark Lanegan, as well as internationally recognized artists such as Dave Gahn, Cat Power, Brandon Flowers, Debbie Harry, Shirley Manson, Dan Orbach, and many more. They work with Chrissie Hynde on this album, showcasing 13 unique voices in intimate, stripped-down arrangements and minimal, sophisticated instrumentation. There is only one theme that ties all the songs together: great melodies. The first single from the album is "Always on My Mind" with Rufus Wainwright. Chrissy says of the single and the album's genesis: "We wanted to make a duet album. I had never thought about making a duets album before. The idea came to me in 2023. I was talking on the phone with Jorn, Rufus Wainwright's husband. We were talking about novels that we both recommend, and at some point I thought, 'Maybe Rufus and I should do something together,' and I hurriedly wrote down ten songs that came into my head.And Jorn asked Rufus and he was on board, so that's how it started. It was a natural progression, something I thought would be fun." Duets Special is not only Chrissie's fourth studio album under her own name. This latest album is the most creative chapter in Chrissie Hynde's career, and an exciting and surprising change of direction. Duets Special is the follow-up to The Pretenders' most recent release, Relentless, and a subsequent world tour spawned a new live album, Kick 'Em Where It Hurts. And last year, when she performed at Mark Lanegan's 60th anniversary concert, The Times said that Chrissie's voice "should be designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site right now.
