Steve Hackett has become one of the most important players in the current progressive rock scene. He no longer needs the title of former Genesis guitarist, and continues to create progressive rock with a high degree of originality and musicality. Genesis was a progressive rock band that reached its peak during his tenure with the band. One of Steve Hackett's life's work is to re-record their songs and recreate them live. The first album was released in 1996 as a prologue to this project. Working with top musicians such as John Wetton, Bill Bruford, Ian McDonald, and Tony Levin, Hackett re-recorded various songs from the Genesis era, some faithfully reproducing the originals, some expanding on them, and creating an album that will appeal to fans of Genesis and Steve Hackett alike, The result is a work that appeals greatly to fans of progressive rock as well as fans of Genesis & Steve Hackett. Sixteen years later, in 2012, the band released a sequel. This album consists of Genesis' original songs as well as his own solo covers. The album also features a variety of guest vocalists and players, including John Wetton, Francis Danary, Stephen Wilson, and Steve Rothery, depending on the song, to create a more complete work.
