The Manhattan Transfer is a four-member chorus group that started anew in 1973 with original member Tim Hauser as its leader. The group made a big splash among jazz fans with its cover of "Birdland," a popular Weather Report song, and won Grammy Awards for Best Jazz Fusion Performance and Best Vocal Arrangement for the same song. The super group Manhattan Transfer has continued to reign supreme as a popular chorus group, winning numerous awards since then, and now they have released an album featuring their performance in 2011! This album is a complete recording of the group's performance on July 2, 2011 at the 2011 Jazz Festival in Switzerland.The program features cover numbers such as Chick Corea's classic "Spain (I Can Recall)," "Hear The Voices (Bahia De Todas As Contas)" by Gilberto Gil, and "Swing," released in 1997, which focuses on traditional jazz numbers from the 1930s and 1940s. The second half of the concert featured a number of cover numbers, including "Sing A Study In Brown," a traditional jazz number from the 1930s and 1940s that was featured on the 1997 Swing album. The second half of the show features a gorgeous joint performance by the New York Voices, a chorus group that rivals the Manhattan Transfer.
