Kei Shirai has been active as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral musician. Although based in Vienna, Shirai will further expand his activities in Japan by assuming the position of guest concertmaster of the NHK Symphony Orchestra in April 2020. For his forthcoming solo recording, Shirai has chosen Schumann's late masterpieces. He will explore the low register of the violin, coloring both sonatas with concerto-like content in the famous "Romance" and weaving the future with "The Bird's Prophecy". The collaboration with specialist Megumi Ito will convey the profound secrets of Schumann and the charm of Kei Shirai, a "natural born musician". (C)RS
