Mani Neumeier / Risa Dakeda

Description:

Mani Neumeier & Risa Takeda, the miraculous duo of Japanese and German improvisers Creating 9 extremely colorful songs ranging from romantic ballads to noisy sounds. ★Mani Neumeier Mani Neumeier was born in Munich, Germany in 1940 and began his musical career in 1965 with the Irene Schweitzer (p) Trio in Zurich, Switzerland. They invented their own free jazz style and Mani became the first free jazz drummer in Europe. During this period he played in Europe with the Peter Brotzmann Trio, Marion Brown, Youssef Latief, Philly Joe Jones, Grove Unity Orchestra, Champion Jacques Dupree, etc. In 1968 he formed Guru Guru with bassist Uli Trepte The band has toured incessantly for 52 years and is still active today. They have released 34 LPs/CDs and played approximately 3,730 concerts worldwide. Since 1996, when Mani's life-size wax figure was exhibited at the Tokyo Tower Wax Museum, he has visited Japan every year to perform with many Japanese musicians, including Tatsuya Yoshida, Makoto Kawabata, Atsushi Tsuyama, Akira Sakata, Kazuhisa Uchihashi, Keiichi Haino, Damo Suzuki, Mandog, Risa Takeda, Seiichi Yamamoto, and Koichi Makigami, and has produced many CDs with them. Risa Takeda Born in Hokkaido, Risa Takeda began playing classical piano at the age of 3. In 2011, she moved to Tokyo and has been participating in many blues, jazz, and improvisation-oriented sessions. While working in various forms of bands/units, she started her solo career in 2016. His improvisational performances using piano and electronics, sound on video works, and piano covers of FRANK ZAPPA have been well received. He has released two albums on My Best! Records, "Pandora" (18') and "Metéôros" (19'), both of which he composed, arranged, performed, and recorded all by himself. The result is a massive work of music that is full of complex melodies, harmonies, rhythms, and sequences of sounds, which are then embodied in a free, yet precise, ensemble. In live performances, he has performed with Akira Sakata, Tatsuya Yoshida, Seiichi Yamamoto, Rihiko Yokogawa, Keiichi Suzuki, and Mani Neumeier (titles omitted), further expanding the scope of his activities.
