Description:
Jazz guitar legend Wes Montgomery performed live and in the studio with Miles Davis' rhythm section, Wynton Kelly's trio, at the Half Note in New York City in June 1965. The two tracks on side A are from a live performance at the Half Note in New York City in June of the same year, and show the contrast between the movement and stillness of the performance with Miles' passionate "No Blues" and the ballad "If You Could See Me Now". The three B-side tracks were recorded in September of the same year at Van Gelder Studios. It starts with the swingy "Unit 7," followed by Wes' signature tune "Four on Six," and the standard ballad "What's New. The entire album features Wes's octave technique, Wynton's swinging piano, Paul Chambers's dynamic bass, and Jimmy Cobb's dynamic drums. Recording engineer: Rudy Van Gelder - Produced by Creed Taylor
