Aya Shimazu's 3-disc compendium of her 40-year career! Aya Shimazu was exposed to enka at an early age and participated in numerous contests; by the time she was six years old, she had won more than 100 grand prizes and was hailed as a girl prodigy. She was scouted at the age of 13, moved to Tokyo at 14, and made her debut on May 21, 1986, at the age of 15, with "Migratory Bird in a Hakama". Her steady efforts bore fruit in 2001 when "Aizen katsura wo ita again" became a smash hit, selling over 300,000 copies. In 2015, she returned to Kohaku for the first time in 14 years, while her album series "SINGER," in which she covered famous songs and Western favorites, drew much attention for her exceptional singing ability. After witnessing this broadcast, Makita Sports named him "Uta Monster," a nickname that has now become firmly established. In recent years, she has appeared on many commercial TV programs singing songs other than enka (traditional Japanese ballads). Shimazu's ability to sing songs of all genres while wearing a kimono is gaining support even among the generation that does not listen to enka. (C)RS
