Steps Ahead, led by Mike Mainieri, who dominated the fusion scene in the 1980s, teamed up with Grammy Award-winning arranger Michael Abene for this big band project. The domestic version is sold exclusively at TAWARECO. This is the first new studio album in 22 years (11 years including live albums) and a self-cover album. In addition to Mike Mainieri, the members this time are Chuck Loeb, a first-call guitarist from New York who also plays in the popular fusion band Fourplay, a saxophone player who became famous for his work with Miles' band, and a technical guitarist who has played in rock bands such as Bill Evans and Journey. The band is composed of Steve Smith, a technical drummer who has played in rock bands such as Bill Evans and Journey, and performs his own gem repertoire with a big band in a powerful sound. In addition to the band's repertoire, the band also shows respect for Michael Brecker, who is now deceased, by featuring "Blue Montreux" performed by the Arista All Stars in 1978. The big band is the WDR Big Band based in Cologne, Germany.As known for the live recording "Sam Skunk Funk" with the Brecker Brothers released in 2005, this is a prestigious big band with an established reputation for collaborations with fusion bands.
