Chopin Competition Live in 2021! The 18th International Chopin Piano Competition held in October 2021 was postponed for one year due to the new coronavirus, but the competition attracted an unprecedented level of talent from around the world, and the success of the Japanese contestants and the worldwide online streaming of the competition made it an unprecedented event. The competition has been held in Poland, the host country of the competition, for the first time since its inception. Now, the competition's organizer, the National Chopin Institute of Poland (NIFC), is releasing a series of live recordings of the competition (Blue Series), and the young prodigy Lee Hyuk, the only finalist from Korea, will appear as the first new release in a long time! Lee Hyuk is a rising star pianist born in South Korea in 2000, who won the Chopin International Piano Competition for Youth in Moscow in 2012 at the age of 12, and the 10th Paderewski International Piano Competition in 2016 at the age of 16, becoming the youngest finalist in both competitions, and winning third prize at the 10th Hamamatsu International Piano Competition in 2018. In 2018, he won the third prize at the 10th Hamamatsu International Piano Competition, and in 2021, he was a finalist at the 18th Chopin Competition.Since then, he has continued to make great strides, such as by winning the piano division of the Ron Thibault Crespin International Music Competition in 2022 simultaneously with Seiya Kamei, which made a big splash, and he is one of the young talents attracting the greatest attention today.
