John Corigliano is one of the leading contemporary American composers. His works, which combine elements of classical and popular music, are loved around the world. Mr. Tambourine Man" is a collection of seven songs composed on the poetry of Bob Dylan in 2000, and a recording of the soprano and orchestral version (8.559331) released in 2008 won a Grammy Award in 2009. It was a big hit. This album contains the version Corigliano arranged for chamber music in 2009. The music is airy and the amplified soprano singing is well enhanced by the small orchestra, giving the piece a different flavor from the orchestral version.Canadian soprano Laura Hines' beautiful voice is also heard. The "Griffon Realms," recorded at the same time, is by Vincent Ho, whose work has been highly praised by the New York Times Magazine. Vincent Ho has received numerous awards and has performed extensively, including being composer-in-residence with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra from 2007 to 2014. The work is a piano trio inspired by the tale of the griffon, a legendary creature. The mysterious atmosphere is heightened by the griffon's cries played by the violin and cello and the oriental melody of the second movement. Naxos Japan
