Description:

The first self-labeled album by Koji Ohagi! The guitarist Koji Ohagi, who has captivated audiences in Japan and abroad with his outstanding technique, deep expressiveness, and diverse musicality, has finally decided to launch his own label, MARCO CREATORS The first album will be titled "MARCO CREATORS". The first album will be "Platero to Watashi" (Platero and I). It is a masterpiece for guitar and recitation composed by Italian composer Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco based on "Platero and Me," a masterpiece by Juan Ramon Jimenez, a Spanish poet who won the Nobel Prize for Literature. Written by Jimenez, who made his debut in the literary world at a young age, when he returned to his hometown Mogale to rest his mind, this work consists of 138 prose poems in which he talks to Platero, a donkey, about the beauty in the nature and simplicity of his hometown, and the joys and sorrows of life. From these, Tedesco selected 28 poems and composed a work for guitar and recitation. Ohagi has been performing the work in concert with Mutsumi Hatano since 2016, and the entire work was recorded on this disc with a new translation of the reading by Mutsumi Hatano herself.Hatano carefully translates the poems into Japanese from the warm gaze of Jimenez, sometimes using the Miyazaki dialect of Andalusia (where the two are from) to bring new life to the stories with his witty expressions. Ohagi, who has been called "a poet of the guitar and a painter of sound," creates poetic scenes with a rich sense of song. The jacket design is the work of copperplate artist Yoko Yamamoto, which embodies the worldview of the work. King International Inc.
