【The Death and Revenge of the Giant Tree: A Symphonic Poem of Nature and Human Regeneration Woven from Walloon Verse】 This ambitious work reconstructs Belgian poet Henri Simon's Walloon poems "The Death of the Tree" and "The Tree's Revenge" into a grand choral symphonic poem by Patrick Lutherm. It depicts the ironic fate of nature and humanity, and the cycle of life, where a giant tree felled for profit eventually becomes the coffin of the one who ordered its felling, thus achieving "revenge." Featuring the Namur Chamber Choir, the Candide Orchestra organized by Luterme and musicians from the Palais des Beaux-Arts, and the percussion ensemble AkroPercu. The organic sounds, incorporating the sounds of saws and branches into the composition, blend with the folk colors of the Walloon region. Furthermore, the orchestra includes a diatonic accordion and its player, along with the "Basse aux pieds" (foot-operated bass accordion). The fanfare ensemble incorporates distinctive instruments essential to the Belgian carnival in Bansh, such as the "Jill drum" and the "Jill bass drum." This monumental work, which could be called a modern oratorio, sings of reverence for nature and the powerful force of life that continues beyond death.Includes a 40-page booklet featuring the Walloon-language poem that inspired the work, its French translation, analysis of the work (in French), and color illustrations. *Walloon is a distinct language from Belgian French, considered a derivative of the French Belgian dialect.
