Sakari Oramo, Principal Conductor of the BBC Symphony Orchestra since 2013, is back with a sequel to her acclaimed 2023 release of Bacewicz's works. The Piano Concerto was an entry in the Frederic Chopin Composition Competition, organized by the Polish Federation of Composers to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Chopin's death. Veteran pianist Peter Donohoe will participate as a soloist, and his skillful pianism will be heard in this piece. The "Symphony No. 2" is essentially her third symphony, but since the first was discarded, it is designated "No. 2. She describes the work as "incorporating her own musical discoveries while referencing the traditions of the great classical masters. The concerto for large symphony orchestra is an important work that Bacevich considers part of her transition to a new phase in her creative career. Naxos Japan
