Trio George Sand

Description:

What if Mozart had visited Japan? A piano trio named after Georges Sand, a writer with a deep love for painting and music, in addition to creative stories and Mozart piano quartets and new literature by Dai Fujikura and Kyo Mochizuki. They specialize in programs that intertwine literature, painting, and history, and this album features two Mozart piano quartets with the addition of a viola. In addition, Mieko Miyazaki, who is based in France and has been active without borders, plays the koto and plays an arrangement from an opera. The commissioned works by Dai Fujikura and Kyo Mochizuki, which were performed for the first time in the world at Musashino Civic Cultural Center in October 2023, are both homages to traditional Japanese culture, and the girls give beautiful performances with deep empathy for the world depicted in the sounds. The piano is a 102-key Opus 102 by French piano maker Stéphane Pollero. What makes this album even more special is the 130-page all-color booklet, which includes commentary on the music and projects by performers, composers, and arrangers, as well as a letter from the writer and lover of Japanese culture and longtime CEO of Chanel Japan, from 1995 to 2018 The exhibition also features a letter by Mozart, created by Richard Collasse, a writer who loves Japanese culture and was the CEO of Chanel Japan from 1995 to 2018. The letters are very readable, with Mozart's observations and reflections on Japanese culture in the late Edo period, addressed to Konstanze, Nannerl, Haydn, and others. The book is also richly illustrated with beautiful sketches of costumes and stage designs for Mozart's operas by the artist Balthus, and costume designs by his wife, Setsuko Klosowska de Laura. All texts are translated into Japanese, making the book not only a solid read, but also an invaluable resource. Naxos Japan
