The previously released Symphony No. 2 & Vocalise was compared to the previously released version in "Stereo" magazine, with the following comments: "The most noticeable difference is the three-dimensionality of the orchestra. The front, rear, left, and right expanses and distances are accurate, and the depth of the stage is deepened. The sound of instruments like the glockenspiel, which is easily buried by other instruments in the tutti, can be heard clearly. This conveys the ingenuity of Rachmaninoff, who was well versed in orchestral performance effects, and the power to draw you into the performance is instantly enhanced.When this First Symphony was first released, "Record-Geijutsu" wrote, "A lucid expression was created by utilizing the virtuosity of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra" (Tadao Koishi's review of the performance) and "The orchestra develops in a spacious soundstage.
