Founded in 1982 near Cologne as the record production division of Delta-music, CAPRICCIO focused on performers and music from German-speaking countries using digital recording technology, which was becoming mainstream at the time. While there are masterpieces from a variety of genres, this 10-CD set includes performances by some of the CAPRICCIO label's leading soloists.Ton Koopman's 1987 recording of J.S. Bach's Inventions and Sinfonias, Christine Schornsheim's harpsichord works by the Bach family, Eckard Haupt's collection of C.P.E. Bach's flute concertos, Burkhard Gretzner's Vivaldi: Oboe Concertos and other works from the Baroque period, Reinhold Friedrich's superb trumpet, Tabea Zimmermann's Schumann, and the brilliant pianist Zimon Bach.
