This is an excellent project, full of the stylishness and joy of discovery unique to the French classical music scene, reminiscent of the great recordings of the early days of the Alpha label. The sound is fresh and fragrant, and has a strong appeal not only to fans of classical music, but also to listeners of modern French music. The instrumental music is interspersed with light songs of the type called brunettes, or "serious songs" or "drinking songs," which are folk songs about the love of a shepherd man and a shepherdess, and each track shows what a brilliant group of players Les Capsbergirls is, the new French generation formed in 2015. I can't help but be impressed. The fact that the group is produced by Rolf Lislevand, a brilliant string player who has worked alongside Savard as a soloist, singing accompanist, and bass player, is also a good indication of the outstanding skills of the group and the high expectations of the European classical music scene.This is an album that makes you feel the more you listen to it.
