Description:

Heracles, a hero who has distinguished himself in many adventures and battles, has a wife named Deianeira, but is infatuated with Iole, the fiancée of his son Hyllos. This love triangle is intertwined with the thoughts of the heavenly gods, including Wenus, god of love, and Juno, patron god of chastity, while Heracles, wearing a cursed wedding garment, dies in anguish... From the Paris Opéra-Comique, which has been attracting attention for its many interesting revival projects, comes Cavalli's opera "Hercules in Love," which was extremely popular in the mid-17th century as a highbrow disciple of Monteverdi, the founder of Italian Baroque opera. To celebrate the marriage of Louis XIV, the Sun King of France, and Maria Teresa of Spain, Cavalli created a spectacular festive drama in which the human world and the heavenly gods intersect, with Louis XIV as the hero Hercules. The production's pop and kitsch art, stage mechanisms, and costumes (stuffed animals) by Valérie Rousseau and Christian Eck bring the original concept to life on stage, while creating an eye-catching stage for the spectacular arias, choruses, and ballets that take turns. The production was created by Valérie Rousseau and Christian Eck.The splendid cast of singers, including Nauel di Piero as the title role, Anna Bonitatibus as Juno, and the veteran Dominique Vis as Deianeira's servant Lycus, is beautifully supported by the youthful and dynamic performance of Ensemble Pygmalion led by Raphael Pichon, an expert in baroque opera performance. The young and dynamic performance by Ensemble Pygmalion led by Rafael Pichon, an expert in baroque opera performance, supports the singing beautifully. Naxos Japan
