Wilhelmina Smith is a female cellist who, in her last album (ODE-1294), proudly presented unaccompanied cello works by two contemporary Scandinavian composers, Salonen and Saariaho. This time she tackles the unaccompanied works of Danish composers Noago and Luzas. Noago is known for his large-scale orchestral works, while Rouzas is known for his five symphonies. Each composer's unique style is also used in these small orchestral works. Noago, who discovered his own style of composition called "Infinite Serie," has a lyrical atmosphere reminiscent of Sibelius and Nielsen in his early works. In Sonata No. 2, we can witness the transition of his style. Rouzas also used as his subject matter "The Armed Man," a secular music of unknown author that was popular during the Renaissance. Various elaborate variations follow, and the theme is played last. Naxos Japan
