Description:
Almost all the strings are original, existing ancient instruments! This is a very small Bach album, which is very worthwhile to listen to. The orchestra is composed of a single player for each part except for the bass continuo (cello, contrabass, and harpsichord), and is made up of highly experienced virtuosi of ancient instruments. The reason why each note is carefully recorded and resonates with rich taste is due to the fact that most of the string instruments used, including the unique 1604 Polish violin played by soloist Grodeanu, are original instruments from the 18th century or earlier, and to Hugues Deschaux, a technician well versed in recording ancient instruments, The recording is also a credit to Hugues Déchaud, an engineer well versed in the recording of ancient instruments, for his honest engineering that accurately captures the atmosphere of the music. The harpsichord is a reproduction of an Emsche model from Paris, but Haas, who has an extensive collection of antique instruments, dared not to insist on the original existing instruments because he recognized that "the low pitch that makes the strings sound muffled is not appropriate for Bach's ensemble music.
