Description:
A collection of piano concertos by three modern British composers by Mark Bebbington. The concerto by Gordon Jacob, who studied at the Royal Academy of Music and is known for orchestrating works by Noël Coward and others, is an ambitious work in which the gorgeous piano tone is supported by a stately orchestra. The concerto by Kerhuizen, who became Mrs. Olwynn, is beautifully contrasted between the lively first and third movements and the contemplative second movement. Williamson, who was born in Sydney and moved to London, wrote this piece in eight days, yet it is exquisite and full of varied ideas. The rhythmic theme in the last movement is a particular highlight. Naxos Japan
