This is the first CD by the ensemble Girandole Almonike, winners of the Romanus Weichlein Prize at the 2013 H.I.F. Biber International Competition in Austria, together with Japanese violinist Akika Sumi. 5 pieces performed at the competition (tracks 1, 2, 5, 6, The CD features five pieces from the competition (tracks 1, 2, 5, 6, and 12) and other works for strings written in Italy and Austria during the Baroque period, presented with a lively, youthful sensibility. The works for strings embody the "deviation" that is the essence of Baroque music through the use of irregular tuning and other styles of writing, and it will be a pleasure to hear how they are cooked up by the vivid sensibility of the Italian instrumentalists of the Baroque period.
