Three kids from the Rust Belt were making their own way in the Midwest, creating a unique and truly far-flung strain of music. They were flipping lids in their wood-paneled basements, attributing stylistic beauty to the pioneers of deep German electronic music, and soaring through the underground with an uplifting sound unleashed with the ethos and twisted fervor of Midwestern rebel noise freaks.After a few releases had gained enthusiastic fandom in niche circles of Internet/music culture, the late Peter Rehberg, renowned artist and curator of the Editions Mego label, caught the eye of the Emeralds, and expectations were high that their next album would be a big one. The expectation was high that Emeralds' next album would be a big one. In 2010, "Does it Look Like I'm Here? Pitchfork named it "Best New Music" in recognition of the album's rare electricity.
