Finnish melodic death metal band Wintersun has released its long-awaited new album after a seven-year absence! The fusion of Finland's unique melancholy melodies and brutality is one-of-a-kind. The guitarist is Tame Mantusari, who is currently participating in Megadeth! Wintersun is a Finnish melodic death metal band that originally started in 2003 as a solo project of Jari Maempfer, a member of Ensiferum at the time. Soon after, the band got a contract with German major Nüclear Blast and released their eponymous debut album the following year in 2004.In this album, Yari handled all the parts except for the drums, and in 2006 he began work on a second album, "Time I," but this was interrupted the following year in 2007. Eventually, it was not until five years later, in 2012, that this finally saw the light of day. The album was a great success, reaching No. 2 on the charts in its native Finland. Time II" was to follow, but another five years passed before the third album, titled "The Forest Seasons," was released in 2005. Seven years have passed since then. Now, "Time II" is finally released.The slow pace of Wintersun's activities is also a characteristic of the group, but with such a splendid lineup of members, this is not surprising. The aforementioned Yari is in charge of vocals/guitar/keyboards. And drummer Kai Haft, who has been with the band since its first album, is also currently a member of Nightwish. Former Norther bassist Jukka Koskinen is also currently a member of Nightwish. He is also known for his recent work with Crownshift. And guitarist Teemu Mantusari is currently a member of Megadeth, as you may well know.Once again, only six songs are included, three of which are very massive compositions of over 10 minutes in length. There are acoustic guitars, blast beats, and even a Chinese string instrument, the erhu. And of course, it is packed with Finnish melodies. It's worth the seven-year wait. This is the best melodic death metal by the best musicians. A must-listen for extreme metal fans and Scandinavian lovers alike!
