Minoru Wakasugi, a music critic, writer, and songwriter, has compiled and reissued a series of Impulse label releases. Following the long-selling "Jazz Side of MOTOWN," Mr. Wakasugi focuses on the jazz label "Impulse! a jazz label founded in 1960, as a popular music label. The label's profound and diverse personality is inverted and reconstructed with the keywords "light, sophisticated, and clear. After the first half of the album, which focuses on funk-like performances, and the middle section, a corridor of grooves steeped in R&B and ethnic music, the second half of the album is filled with blues and bossa nova sounds.
