Hatis Noit also participates in this second collaborative work by ambient musician Hiji Hatakeyama and drummer Shun Ishiwaka! Chihei Hatakeyama, a.k.a. Chihei Hatakeyama, who has become a leading figure in the ambient/drone music scene in Japan, has now released his second collaboration with jazz drummer Shun Ishiwaka. The two have been performing together since they first met on a radio program, and in May 2024, they released the first of a two-part album, "Magnificent Little Dudes Vol. 1," which is now the second installment of the same series. This album includes the album's opening track, "M3," featuring award-winning British cellist Cecilia Bignall, and "M5," which was created with the aim of achieving a schgaser sound. Vol. 2 contains the second half of the session. It was an afternoon in March. I could feel that the long winter was coming to an end, and the days of wearing masks were coming to an end, as the corona had been in effect longer in Japan than in other countries. Cecilia Bignal joined us on cello for our performance of M3. This was a clear influence from the American singer/songwriter David Grubbs, whom I had met a long time ago. The song is called "Stanwell Perpetual" from his album "The Spectrum Between".However, this song has been reshaped so many times in my head that it doesn't seem to be directly related to this 'M3' release," he said. Vol. 2 was already released digitally in October of last year, but for this physical release, three additional remixes have been included.
