Rossini (1792-1868) was the greatest opera composer of the 19th century. Just a few moments of his overtures will immediately bring the dramatic and spectacular setting to life before your eyes. This disc contains the third and fourth volumes of the CD. It includes 15 overtures, including the famous "Cenerentola" and "The Barber of Seville. Of course, rare works are included, and Rossini lovers will surely be moved to tears. The overture to "Maomet II" was not included in the 1820 premiere, but was added when the opera was performed again in 1822. The other overtures are also familiar works, but only track 4, "Grand Overture," is an "independent work" written not for opera but for contrabass when he was a student. It is a very typical Rossini music, with a wonderful transition that combines a dramatic atmosphere with a lively expression.Sinfonia in E flat major" is another student work, which was later adapted into an overture to "The Marriage Bill" and "Adelaide of Borgogna".
