Schumann's first violin sonata was begun in 1851 and completed in only 16 days. It is a masterpiece written in a period when he was still active and full of passion, and is a tightly written work overall. However, Schumann was not satisfied with this work, and about a month after the completion of No. 1, he immediately started No. 2, which he completed in just one week, demonstrating his superhuman ability. It was an even more mature work than No. 1. Tetzlaff's violin sings as deeply and widely as a viola. Forkert's piano firmly supports it. What a moving and sensitive Schumann. The third sonata is a little-known work. It is a sonata in which Schumann added two new movements to the parts (second and fourth movements) of the "F.A.E. Sonata" that was dedicated to Joachim.
