Launched in 2025, Paavo Järvi and the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen (DKAM) have embarked on a new recording project: “Schubert: Complete Symphonies.” The first installment, featuring Symphony No. 7, “The Unfinished,” and Symphony No. 4, “The Tragic,” received worldwide acclaim, including being named a “Editor’s Choice” by Gramophone magazine and a “Selected Release” by Reco-Gei Online. Recorded in December 2025 and set for an early release, the second volume features two works composed when Schubert was between the ages of 19 and 21: the popular No. 5, known for its straightforward style, and No. 6, strongly influenced by Rossini and often referred to as the “C-sharp minor.” Capturing Schubert—who opened the door to 19th-century Romanticism and infused the formal beauty of the Classical era with rich emotional depth—from a 21st-century perspective, this recording showcases the exceptional form of the Järvi and DKAM duo as they reveal the composer’s forward-thinking and innovative spirit.
