1982's "Magic Boy" is a suspense film about a magic prodigy who uses his father's magic to set up a teasing trap that actually ends up costing the boy his life. The music is by French composer Georges Druieu. He has worked with some of the greats of cinema, including François Truffaut, Bernardo Bertolucci, Alain Resnais, and Jean-Luc Godard, and won an Academy Award for "Little Romance" in 1980. Later, after moving to Hollywood, he was invited by Coppola to be used for this film. His melodic dexterity and emotional intonation in his beautiful melodies are fully demonstrated in this film, and the music is sweet, sentimental, and full of pathos. This long-awaited reissue of this long out-of-print work includes extensive liner notes. Includes extensive liner notes.
