Description:
Furtwängler's famous recording of Schumann No.4 from the first original recording! The church is located in the center of Berlin's city transportation, about 15 minutes by subway from the ZOO (zoo) station to THIELPATZ station. In Berlin, where the old Philharmonie was destroyed without a trace in an air raid in 1944, the Berliner Philharmoniker's concerts were held exclusively at the Titania Palast (movie theater). However, the sound was not suitable for recording because it was that of a movie theater. Therefore, Kyle Holtz and the rest of the recording staff decided to use a modern church in the Dahlem area. In fact, when I listen to orchestral recordings made at this church, I am always drawn in by the wonderful acoustics that reveal the details of the music in a non-habitual and profound sound. The fact that the "New Philharmonic" was still using this place as its main recording venue more than 10 years after its completion and that it was also used as a studio for broadcasting and CD recording shows how excellent the acoustics of this place are. The record used for this reissue is an early 10-inch LP33 record with "LP33" printed on the label side. (At that time, LP33 was released at the same time as SP records, so the letters "LP33" were printed in gold to warn people to be careful when playing it.) We would be very happy if our reissue of the CDs will give you a sense of the interpretation of Furtwängler's later years and the spirit of the recording staff who went to the extent of finding a recording site among the ruins to preserve the recordings of his performances. Regarding the recording of the CDs, I have found that the early DGG recordings were made by FFRR, and later by NAB, although the exact recording is not the same.In fact, after comparing the sound of the FFRR and the NAB, we chose the FFRR because the woodwinds come out more beautifully and sound more resonant, and the sound at fortissimo is more natural from the hall's resonance. As for cartridge adjustment, we selected a stylus that suited the sound of this disc. We selected from more than 10 styli with a combination of diamond and sapphire needles, and natural rubber and synthetic rubber dampers. This time, we selected a combination of diamond and synthetic rubber damper. The needle pressure was gradually increased from 3 to 6 grams, and the fortissimo sound was adjusted so that it would not be destroyed. We selected a disc with a good sound contour after listening to more than one disc. We hope you can feel the atmosphere of the Church of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Recording is done from late at night to early in the morning when the voltage is stable. King International
