Following the release of her debut album in 2012, Yuki Mizuno—who was warmly welcomed by music fans for her dignified and powerful performances—now presents her second album. She delivers a delicate yet vivid interpretation of key works from the cello repertoire, including the Sonata for Arpeggione and pieces by Chopin. She approaches each piece with sincerity and sings them out with rich expression. This album is filled with the sincere music of Yuki Mizuno, whose activities extend far beyond the confines of classical music. It seems as though Yuki Mizuno takes flight with rich expression through these songs brimming with melody. Please enjoy the beautiful melodies of this rising star of the cello. She began playing the cello at the age of 9. After graduating from the Music Department of Toho Girls’ High School and Toho Gakuen University, she is currently enrolled in the graduate school at the same university. She won the Silver Prize in the High School and Above Division at the 7th Izumi no Mori Junior Cello Competition. To date, she has performed at the Miyazaki International Music Festival, the Suntory Hall 23rd Anniversary Gala Concert, the Toho Gakuen University Chamber Music Concert featuring students who excelled in internal auditions, the Saito Kinen Festival Matsumoto “Opera for Youth,” the Seiji Ozawa Music Academy Orchestra, the Yokohama Minato Mirai Hall New Year’s Eve Concert, and the JT Art Hall Chamber Music Series. In 2011, she performed in the “Nanae Mimura & Yuki Mizuno Special Concert” as part of the first-anniversary commemorative event for the renovated Ginza Yamaha Hall. She participated in the Kirishima International Music Festival as a scholarship student. In 2012, she performed with the Yamagata Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Norichika Iimori, to great acclaim. That same year, she released her debut CD, “Yuki Mizuno” (Octavia Records), and held a commemorative recital at the Yamaha Ginza Concert Salon. To date, she has studied cello under Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi and Tomoya Kikuchi, and chamber music under Fumio Tokunaga and Kazuyuki Fujii.
