Following the release of "The Rite of Spring" (SOB06) in 2014, this release of Stravinsky's "The Firebird" offers a comparison of the orchestral version and the two-piano version. The orchestral version is performed by the Basel Symphony Orchestra conducted by D.R. Davis, and the two-piano version is performed by D.R. Davis and his wife, Maki Namekawa. Of Stravinsky's three ballets, "The Firebird" differs from the other two ("The Rite of Spring" and "Petrushka") in that the composer left no four-hand version. The performance is based on D.R.
