The latest release by the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra led by Yakub Fulscher is a concept album on the theme of "death" featuring works by Wagner, who transformed the music of the 19th century, and Mahler and R. The first movement of Symphony No. 2 "Resurrection" is known as the first draft of Mahler's symphonic poem "The Funeral. The fourth movement of Symphony No. 5, "Adagietto," which became famous as the theme music for Luchino Visconti's masterpiece "Death in Venice. The final movement is the symphonic poem "Death and Transfiguration (Death and Purification)," a work that encapsulates Strauss's views on life and death as a young man in his twenties. Fulscher says that he has collected works that remind us that the meaning of life can be found in the confrontation between life and death, rather than in the inevitable confrontation with death. He also says that by performing these works together, a dialogue between the composers is created on this recording, and that their music, which is engraved in the DNA of the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, will ask questions and resonate in the listener's heart.
