Bach's "Golberg Variations" for string trio of viola, cello and double bass! The viola is played by the Berlin Philharmonic's virtuoso Martin Stegner, who describes his viola as "an almost imperceptible link between the upper and lower voices, and I am often almost jealous of the melodious melody of the upper voices and the decisive presence of the lower voices. When Esco Reine, another member of the Berlin Philharmonic and principal double bass, came up with the idea of performing Bach's "Goltberg Variations" with viola, cello, and double bass, Stegner was skeptical about the idea. He had the idea of playing one of the most famous transcriptions of the Goltberg Variations, Dmitri Sitkovetsky's arrangement for string trio, transposed five degrees lower. The "Violin, Viola, and Cello" was to be played by "Viola, Cello, and Double Bass. For this ambitious and seemingly impossible challenge, Stegner and Reine invited Taneli Turunen, the deputy principal of the Berlin Konzerthaus Orchestra, to join them as a trio.When we first rehearsed the aria and some of the variations, any skepticism I had felt at first was completely erased, and there was excitement and excitement all around. The new "Golberg Variations" for string trio with viola, cello, and double bass, which was the result of a difficult process, adds a new page to Bach's great and celebrated masterpiece, especially for viola and double bass, who had difficulty playing the original violin and cello parts.
