Sweet is a British glam rock band that gained popularity in the early to mid 70's. They have released many rock anthems such as "Fox On The Run", "The Ballroom Blitz", and "Block Buster". SWEET 1969-1978" is the definitive collection of their "golden era" of glam rock, Sweet, which was popular from the early to mid 70's. Formed in London in 1968, they changed their name from "Sweet Shop" in 1970, and in 1971, after transferring to RCA, they released their first album "SWEET", which was a pop album by Nick Chin & Mike Chapman, and became the most popular glam rock band of the time. After moving to RCA in 1971, the band entered its heyday with pop songs by Nick Chin & Mike Chapman. Later, they began to release original songs with a hard rock flavor, and as a representative band of the 70's glam rock scene, they influenced later rock bands as well.Although the group broke up in 1981, it has reunited several times since then and continues to perform as "Andy Scott's Sweet," with guitarist Andy Scott, the only surviving member from the golden era, at the center of the group. The definitive Greatest Hits collection of Sweet's music from 1969 to 1978, the so-called "Golden Age of Sweet," is now available for purchase. The Best of Sweet 1969-1978" is a 2-CD analog set that collects the band's hits, representative songs, and popular songs from the RCA era. The album includes the #1 UK hit "Block Buster," "Little Willy," which reached #4 in the UK and #3 in the US, "Fox On The Run," which reached #2 in the UK and #5 in the US, and "The Ballroom Blitz," which has been covered by many artists and is still a classic. The album also includes songs that are still familiar on classic rock radio stations and playlists. New liner notes are included with the release.Fans will be pleased to see the artwork featuring the band in their golden era, which is the "glam rock band", and the violet, pink, and flashy colors of the analog release.
