Altan Gün's fifth album is the band's greatest masterpiece ever, a reinterpretation of Turkish folk songs and a return to their roots! Altan Gün is a six-piece band based in Amsterdam. After the 80s/90s sound of electronics and synths seen on the 2021 albums "Alem" and "Yol", which were produced at home during the pandemic, the band members came together again this time to record the album using analog/vintage equipment, and the result is the 70s folk-rock sound of the Anatolian era. Anatolian folk-rock sound (the sound that impressed their early works) and a bold return to traditional Turkish music. The result is an album with the highest energy ever, with an overwhelming live and band feel that overflows from song to song, as if exploding with joy at the lifting of restrictions. The riffs of the saz, a traditional Turkish electric instrument, roll over the African funky beat in "Leylim Ley," and the natural use of irregular time signatures is brilliant.Rakiya Su Katamam," with its fuzzed-out bass and wah guitar at its best, makes listeners around the world dance with an addictive quality that could be called Turkish high-speed musical accompaniment. The meticulous care and attention to detail required to manipulate the vintage equipment leads to a warm sound and a great benevolent tenderness. This is a representative album of 2023 that can be recommended to fans of world music and Latin music, as well as to fans of all kinds of music, from progressive rock and Sly & Robbie to funk, folk, Pink Floyd, Cluambin, and Shintaro Sakamoto.
