The talented Swiss Piano Trio is now ready to start Beethoven's complete works! The first performance is by the Grand Duke Trio! The Swiss Piano Trio, which was formed in 1998 and has won numerous competition awards, has finally begun recording Beethoven's complete piano trios! The first release is the commemorative Op. 1 Piano Trio No. 1 and the masterpiece No. 7 "Grand Duke Trio", both of which are numbered with their Op. 1 numbers. The Swiss Piano Trio has released several excellent recordings of high quality, including the piano trios of Eduard Frank (1817-1893) (AU97690), Tchaikovsky's "Memories of a Great Artist" (AU92673), and Clara Schumann's piano trio (AU92549). The Beethoven recordings are also highly anticipated. The Piano Trio No. 1 is said to have been composed around 1792, and Op. 1, which includes this work, consists of three piano trios in E-flat major (No. 1), G major (No. 2), and C minor (No. 3). The arrangement of the four movements follows the format of the classical sonatas, but the treatment of the instruments is fresh and out of the style of the time, the slow movement is deeply introspective and beautiful, and the third movement, a scherzo, shows Beethoven's characteristic freedom of feeling.The most attractive feature of the Piano Trio No. 7 "Grand Duke," renowned as one of the finest works in this genre, is that it is a magnificent work with a playing time of over 40 minutes, and the most effective use of the three instruments (violin, cello, and piano) in a concerto-like coloration. The beauty of the extremely rich melodies and harmonies is also a source of noble elegance, with a sense of the soft and gentle movement of the heart characteristic of this period.
