Recording of Havergal Bryan's opera "Agamemnon" and two symphonies All three works recorded here are key points in Bryan's long life of composition.Symphony No. 6, a change in style from his earlier compositions, and the dramatic Symphony No. 12, a short but large-format work that is like an introduction to an opera. The 12th Symphony was composed at the same time as Bryan's last opera, "Agamemnon". This one-act opera, based on the Greek tragedy by Aeschylus, has rarely been performed or recorded. Brabbins has long been a supporter of Bryan, and it is hoped that this album will trigger a reappraisal of this unfortunate composer, who today is seldom neglected except for his Symphony No. 1 "Gothic". *Recorded December 1-2, 2023, St. Jude-on-the-Hill Church, Hampstead, England.
