Debussy's "Last Three Sonatas" Collection One of the definitive masterpieces by a splendid group of performers Harmonia Mundi has reissued "The Last Sonatas" (HMM-902303/Discontinued), which was released on the 100th anniversary of Debussy's death. This is a masterpiece with a splendid lineup of performers. Debussy had planned to compose six sonatas for various instruments in his later years, but actually died the year after completing the three sonatas included here. The final piece in this plan was the Violin Sonata, which was literally Debussy's last work. From the delicate chords played by Melnikov at the beginning of the work, we are immediately drawn into the world. Faust's performance has a mysterious and cute atmosphere, but at the same time, it is very detailed and expressive, making us feel that we must not miss a single note, even a rest. The variety of Debussy's world in his later years is again appreciated through the meticulous performances of these virtuoso players. HARMONIA MUNDI
