Duo album by two talented pianists dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the American classic To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the first performance of Rhapsody in Blue in 1924, pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet and Michael Feinstein and will release the album "Gershwin Rhapsody". The album features four newly discovered Gershwin songs, "Graceful and Elegant," "Dance of the Waves," "Sutton Place," and "Under The Cinnamon Tree," along with some of jazz piano virtuoso George Gershwin's most beloved melodies. Under The Cinnamon Tree" are also included. A medley based on "Rhapsody in Blue" is also included, featuring the music of George and Ira Gershwin in piano duo, solo, and Feinstein's vocals.Thibaudet and Feinstein perform a Gershwin-esque arrangement of Vincent Youmans' "Tea for Two" and close the album with "Jasbo Brown Blues" from the opera "Porgy and Bess." The duo toured the United States with this program, including Carnegie Hall. Thibaudet's discography includes albums of standard classical repertoire as well as the music of the great jazzmen Bill Evans and Duke Ellington. Meanwhile, Michael Feinstein, who worked with Ira Gershwin in Hollywood as a young man and helped him organize his papers, recordings, and other materials, brings his own knowledge and education to the project. The two had originally been friends for many years, but their connection was rekindled when they performed together at the Napa Festival in the summer of 2021, and over several dinners together they developed the idea of bringing this program to fruition. Thibaudet and Feinstein met as their schedules permitted over the next two years to develop this program.
