Description:
An improvisational work that seems to stand on the critical edge of jazz by the trio=poketto, consisting of Tatsuhisa Yamamoto, Riki Hidaka, and Qi Matsumaru.
The three musicians/performers, who have become indispensable figures in the Japanese music scene, recorded this work in 2024. The interplay between the three musicians, which proceeds by relativizing each other's sounds, always releases the primitive energy that "playing" has beforehand, while at the same time it has an emergent radical quality. While the music is based on the jazz/free jazz format, it is as if the listener is transported to the ocean floor.
The three-dimensional and overwhelmingly large scale sound production is another attraction of this album, mixed by Tatsuhisa Yamamoto himself and mastered by Jim O'Rourke. The extremely delicate textures of the individual instrumental sounds are beautifully incorporated into the record, as well as the huge scapes that are hard to believe are the work of just three musicians.
