The Dresden Philharmonic Children's Choir presents Christmas carols from around the world. The Dresden Philharmonic Children's Choir is one of the most successful children's choirs in Germany with over 50 years of history. 140 boys and girls, mostly between the ages of 12 and 18, currently sing in a variety of formations. The choir focuses on joint concerts with the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra and its own concerts, performing works from the Renaissance to the 21st century, from folk songs to pop music (Abba, Beatles, etc.). In addition to concert tours in Germany, the ensemble also actively tours internationally. In recent years, the choir has given concerts and workshops in Japan, China, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, England, France, Australia, and South Africa. And the choir's CD recordings, radio, film, and television programs have been well received for their quality. The choir has also won numerous other awards at national and international competitions, and recently was invited to perform as Dresden ambassadors at the European Parliament in Strasbourg.The latest recording by the Dresden Philharmonic Children's Choir, "It's Christmas - Around the World," is an album that, just by listening to it, you can experience as if you were traveling around Europe and celebrating Christmas in different countries. Included are a variety of Christmas carols, from traditional music of various countries and cultures to lesser-known works under the direction of Günter Berger. Each piece represents a different tradition, climate, and musical style, from regions where winter nights are long and cold to those where Christmas is celebrated in the warm sun.
