Debut solo album by British pianist Geneva Kanay-Mason Pianist Geneva Canay-Mason captivates audiences with her "maturity of performance and interpretation." The third of seven Canay-Mason siblings to establish herself as a soloist, Geneva (the eldest is pianist Isata, the second is cellist Sheku) recently made her Chineke! Orchestra and made her BBC Proms debut with the orchestra. They performed a concerto by Florence Price and were praised by the press for "displaying musical acumen, technical acuity, and an engaging performer's personality." Geneva was a 2018 BBC Young Musician finalist in the keyboard category and winner of the 2014 Mur du Son Prize at the Lannie-sur-Marne International Piano Competition in France and the 2013 Nottingham Young Musician Prize. In addition, she was awarded the Iris Dyer Piano Prize at the Junior Academy of the Royal Academy of Music in England, where she studied with Patti To. With a passion for curating programs that traverse diverse musical landscapes, Geneva's album takes us on a journey to explore the connections between the musical worlds of Chopin, Debussy, Scriabin, and the wonderful composers of Florence Price, Margaret Bonds, and William Grant Still. The album offers a journey to explore the connections between the musical worlds of these composers. As the composers meet, influence each other, or simply resonate with each other, the program draws out these relationships. 'I identify so deeply with these compositions.
