5TH SEASON is a new Finnish band formed by Tapio Ylinen, a vocalist/guitarist/composer who is the founder of Eclipse label in Finland and has released many solo albums and participation works through Eclipse label. The band plays a classic style of progressive rock that respects the classic bands of the past such as PINK FLOYD, GENESIS and PROCOL HARUM. In addition to Tapio, the band features Mikko Loytty (b), Arto Piispanen (key) and Jani Auvinen (drs), who have been active in the Finnish blues/rock scene from the 80's to the present, as well as Durga McGregor, a touring member of Pink Floyd/Dave Gilmour. The band is also joined by a group of gorgeous guests, including Durga McBroom (vo), a touring member of Pink Floyd/Dave Gilmour, and Jukka Gustavson (org), known for his work with WIGWAM.The album begins with an acoustic guitar/piano that brings an ethereal scene to life, followed by a guitar that carefully spins out phrases as if drawing out a story. The guitar starts out on the piano, and then weaves carefully crafted phrases as if to tell a story. The album is followed by 'Daylight's End,' a pops number with catchy melodies with an 80s flavor, and 'On The Dark Side Of The Moon,' a bluesy melodic rock number featuring Durga McBroo, which, as the title suggests, is strongly influenced by PINK FLOYD. The Dark Side Of The Moon' and 'Don't Wanna Sing Your Blues', which features Jukka Gustavson's Hammond organ and shines with austere skill, each song changes its appearance, but all of them are contemporary and cohesive, as if produced in the 21st century. The band's sound is a high-level symphonic rock sound that is both stylish and 70s prog-rock-inspired, and is a pleasure to listen to.
