This new recording has never before been released officially or as a bootleg! The performance captured on this album was recorded just five days before the U.S. release of the Experience's debut album, "Are You Experienced? The performance on this album is a live recording of a concert that took place just five days before the U.S. release of the Experience's debut album, "Are You Experienced? It was almost the last concert of the period in which Hendrix and his band had to stand in front of an audience that knew little about them. Throughout the previous ten months, they had conquered their home turf of England and the rest of Europe, but the 17,000-plus Los Angeles music fans at the Hollywood Bowl, who had come to see headliners The Mamas & The Papas, were not the only ones who were shocked by Jimi Hendrix's shocking performance and showmanship. Jimi Hendrix's electrifying performance and showmanship was truly, truly astounding. Finally, the historic live set was officially released to the world. Amazingly, not a single second of the material has ever been released in any form, unofficial or otherwise. The Experience Hendrix team (Jayne Hendrix, John McDermott, and Eddie Kramer) has been preparing for the release of this album of special significance for some time now.Longtime Hendrix recording engineer Eddie Kramer restored the newly discovered material, and three-time Grammy Award-winning creator Bernie Grundman served as mastering engineer. The album, "The Jimi Hendrix Experience: Live at the Hollywood Bowl 1967," will be released on CD and on 150-gram vinyl with audiophile-grade sound quality and numbering. The photographs in the booklet were taken that day by Ed Kalev, Henry Dilts, and Allen Deivow, all previously unpublished. In addition to the live performance, the booklet also features the band members talking with The Mamas & The Papas, scene-maker Rodney Bingenheimer, manager Chas Chandler, and others.
